1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how you interact with the platform. Counselr uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage) to deliver a fast, secure, and personalized experience.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

Required for the platform to function. These handle authentication sessions, CSRF protection, locale preferences, and load balancing. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

Analytics Cookies

Help us understand how visitors use Counselr so we can improve the product. These cookies collect anonymized data such as pages visited, session duration, and feature usage. We use privacy-respecting analytics that do not track you across other websites.

Functional Cookies

Remember your preferences such as dark mode, editor layout, language selection, and recently accessed projects. Disabling these means your preferences will not persist between sessions.

Marketing Cookies

Used only if you opt in. These help us measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and show you relevant information about Counselr features. We do not sell data collected by marketing cookies to third parties.

  • Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe uses cookies for fraud detection and to maintain secure checkout sessions.
  • Google Analytics — Anonymized usage analytics. Used only when you consent to analytics cookies. IP addresses are anonymized before storage.

5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time:

  • Cookie banner — When you first visit Counselr, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can revisit this choice from your account settings.
  • Browser settings — Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this cookie policy to reflect changes in our practices or for regulatory reasons. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notification or email. Continued use of Counselr after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
